Why did you become a part of Inspiration Bible: It’s an honour to be part of such a brilliant project. It’s a great opportunity to share a small piece with a larger community.

One cool Tuesday morning in 2011, I found myself sitting outside the toilet of a small apartment we had rented in Rome, frantically jotting down stories of our family holiday there. Travelling with my three teenage children, my wife and my mother in law was recipe enough for an interesting adventure. Whilst most of them fell victim to a nasty case of gastro, I had been afflicted with my first (and quite terminal), case of writer’s bug. The pencil in my hand could not keep up with the stories pouring from my mind. Those stories only stay fresh in there for a short time and I really needed to get them down on paper. I’d like to call my style “observational non-fiction”, the occasional observation will draw out a smirk and a few might even conjure a thigh slapping belly laugh. Unfortunately for the reader, those gems are hidden in a quagmire of painful, cringe-worthy, and quite humourless substitutes for toilet paper. Fortunately for me it’s difficult to tell the difference between a cringe and a smirk, so I continue to write on, oblivious of the damage that I persist on contributing to the greater writing community.
